FAQ's

What makes CityQ a bike and not a car?

While CityQ may look and feel more like a car – CityQ is registered as a bike due to following:

The max speed is 25kmh, and you need to pedal to go beyond 6kmh. But pedal feeling is light and different from a traditional bike, due to our unique software-based drivetrain.

How to buy a CityQ cargo bike?

If you know what you need a cargo bike for – you should request for an offer for a cargo bike from a local reseller or via the web site of a cargo bike maker, like CityQ. Depending on your needs they can advise you not only about the bike, but also service and how to get the most out of such a bike.

CityQ has dedicated business developers who advise buyers on whether you will benefit from our bikes or not. Click “Get an offer” and ask for an offer – and they will get in touch

How safe is CityQ?

Safety is a key benefit. We have optimized our 4-wheel bikes for safety to both riders and pedestrians. There are protective floor, doors and front body. CityQ ebikes have transported users for 1 million kilometres with no reported injury to anyone.

Can CityQ use the bike lanes – and park wherever bikes can park?

Yes, as a cargo bike – CityQ can be cycled and parked anywhere cycles are allowed. It is a lot of time saved not being caught in congestion or having to look for available car parking. This can save you 50% in time-efficiency vs a car. Though always try to park with care towards pedestrians.

What to consider when buying a cargo bike?

A cargo bike can improve your operation in the inner city or improve your offerings, sustainability, offering or even access to new drivers. It can replace a van and reduce cost and efficiency.

A few things to consider before buying a cargo bike. What is the current daily transportation need as of range (km), congestion, access to parking, and need for capacity as of space and weight. What is the potential benefits with a bicycle as of free parking anywhere, no congestion, and no need for a driving license.

How do I test a cargo bike?

Most customers don’t fully experience all the benefits of a cargo bike before they have used it for a while. And true testing can be difficult whether you want to measure benefits, functionalities or differences between alternative cargo bikes or vans. Best way to test – could be to have one of your users/drive come by a demo centre and do a test ride.

We offer a checklist for what to test on such a test ride. If a test ride is difficult – we recommend contacting us to learn about experience from other relevant customers and request a 3rd party to test it for you.

Is there a test report for cargo bikes?

CityQ offer customers to hire a 3rd party to test our cargo bikes at a demo centre. And we even offer a standard for testing the bikes which you can use – and also add your own additional tests. This report will be available for both of us – and can be used for a further discussion regarding potentially buying your cargo bike.

How can I buy a cheaper cargo bike?

A cargo bike costs much less than a van – both to buy and maintain. Total cost of ownership can be 70% less for CityQ vs a van. But CityQ is more costly than for instance a 2 wheel cargo bike.

It is possible to get cheaper cargo bikes – even with 3 or 4 wheels. But be careful about low quality bikes and bikes who are still prototypes (not yet mass production) – these can be unreliable. And in the worst case it will cost more to service than to buy. Even worse, it may not be able to repair and be useless after a while. CityQ offers quality, access to spare parts and services across most markets. Also we have established a service program and check list which will help your bike to last longer and be more reliable.

Can I rent or lease instead of buying a cargo bike?

CityQ has partners in many markets offering leasing or rental. We are constantly improving our offerings for lease and rental (in addition to buying the bike). Reach out to us and we will check what we can offer in your case.

What does it cost to ship a cargo bike to me?

Shipping a single bike is costly. CityQ offers different types of shipment – such as volume shipment to local resellers and even batch shipment to pickup hubs. If you want to buy a bike in one of our existing markets – we will check the alternatives. For new markets – we might consider preorders and see if we can find a local partner for service and as a pickup hub.

Why is service and care so important for cargo bikes?

If buying a cargo bike for your business, you might be dependent on the bike for your daily operation. A broken bike can be costly towards your revenues and customer care. Preemptive service prevents breakdown of the bikes and makes it last longer. As important is the care of the bike by the users. Eg CityQ has customers running 12.000 km without need to change brake pads and tires – while other customers have issues with these parts every 2.000km.

How can I lease or rent a CityQ?

In some cities CityQ can be leased or rented for 12-24 months. We are increasing the number of cities where this is available. Initially such offering is for corporations only – and requires the following agreed service and maintenance program. If interested – submit a request. Please clarify if you are interested in options if leasing/rental is not possible.
